Central Connecticut Rowing | Facebook Central Rowing Website"We are a non profit sweep rowing club based in Middletown, CT. We offer rowing programs on the CT River. Programs are administered through Middletown Recreation. Programs for 13+, novice to experienced, recreational to competitive. Come join us!"
GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL ON-WATER CLASSES: Novice rowing classes are generally only offered in the summer months (June/July and sometimes August). On-water classes are open to people ages 13-99 during the summer sessions. 13-yr olds must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to row. All rowers must sign off that they are a strong swimmer. It’s crucial to not miss the first few classes because safety and basics are covered. Fall sessions are open to 18+. (Younger rowers would need special permission.) Experienced classes are offered from May through mid-October.
All programs will include some ergometer (rowing machine) work which is especially important to help proper form. Rowers will sporadically rotate in the motorboat as an observer. We often row in light rain, but will erg or try to reschedule when there are high winds, downpour or lightning. Rescheduling could include an alternative evening or a weekend morning.
Wear tight-fitting shorts or leggings (loose clothing can get caught in seat tracks), socks, sneakers or secure water shoes. A hat, sunscreen, sunglasses are recommended along with a reusable water bottle. Bring, or have in your car, a yoga mat and sneakers for after-row stretching or days when we erg.
*If you are unsure which is the best class for your skill level, please contact Central CT Rowing and we will help you. Info@centralctrowing.com

This free event offers each participant a brief overview of rowing, a chance to learn a little technique on a rowing machine, see our boathouse and go out in an 8-person boat for a brief row on the river.
Please register so we have an idea of how many to expect.
Please wear stretchy shorts/leggings, tops that do not hang below hips, and sneakers. Baggy clothing can get caught in the seat rollers. Strongly suggest wearing sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.
Please bring your own reusable water bottle. We will have a key drop basket but leave other valuables home or in your car so they don't end up in the river!
